Wheelchairs for those in need.

This all started when we received our first donated wheelchair. This was not your typical hospital wheelchair. It was pink and made for a little girl that could not walk. It had never occured to me until then that kids outgrow wheelchairs. Instead of reselling the chair we found a local family that needed it for their girl. Then we got another wheelchair and did the same. To date Cody Can has not sold 1 wheelchair but has given away 8 to those that need them. If you have a wheelchair you no longer need, we would love to receive it as a donation and give you a 501(c)3 receipt. We will find it a good home.

Pictures and letters from some of the people that received wheelchairs.

This is the one that started it all and it came back home to be given out again! The family that received this wheelchair years ago recently upgraded to a new one and returned this chair to be given out again! It has now been given to a special needs classroom in Humbolt. You can read the thank you letter below.

Another family received a wheelchair for their father that was coming home from the hospital.

April 30, 2010 A thank you letter,
I had been looking for a wheelchair for sometime, but could not afford even a second hand one. Since Cody Can was able, and more importantly, willing to give me a wheelchair, I now will have more freedom to go with my two teenagers that I am raising by myself, to places that they want to go. While I can walk short distances, I am completely unable to, say, go grocery shopping without an electric cart and my kids' help. Going shopping for other things they need has been more than I can handle physically and have had to have others go with my kids for that. Also, when my parents come out, who are more physically able than I, I never get to go places with them and my children and grandchildren due to my condition which is aggravated by Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. I am looking forward to being able to go on these outings now because of this wheelchair. For years, I have had to rent a wheelchair just to take my children to the Phoenix Zoo, etc. but local Zoos, and many other places just don't have this option. I am so glad to now have the ability to be able to enjoy the short years left with my children and other family members. Also, I will be able to sit my grandaughters on my lap and hold them on outings; something I have not been able to help with because of my lack of stregnth. Due to the shoulder issues that I also have, I still need to be pushed, but the difference that I know this wheelchair can make for me and being able to enjoy my family, will make a huge difference! Thank you soooo much, Cody Can!

In September 2010 we received a custom made childs tricycle that was made to be operated by hand. The following note is from the mom that received it for her little girl. It reads "I will use this bike for my 4yr old daughter who has Dandy Walker Syndrome. This will help her build upper body strength. Thank You"
